2023 VAMA SCHOLARSHIP

About the scholarship

The 2023 VAMA Scholarship recognizes student excellence in art, photography, illustration, and design. The scholarship is open to all students who explore creative practices and produce work as part of their studies at Los Angeles City College, via any course offered by the Visual And Media Arts Department. Work submitted by scholarship applicants are judged on artistic and creative merit by the faculty of the Visual and Media Arts Department. Students who are awarded the VAMA Scholarship have their work exhibited in the VAMA Scholarship Show at VAMA Gallery.

About the application

Welcome to the application for the VAMA Scholarship. Use this page to submit an application for the scholarship's 2023 cycle. You may apply for multiple categories of the scholarship. Simply submit a separate application for each category.

All work submitted to the VAMA Scholarship should have been made in context of any VAMA or art-related class at Los Angeles City College.

If you have already won in a category in a previous year, you CANNOT compete again in the same category this year. You can compete in a new category (for ex 2nd Year Art). If you submit for a category you already won in, your application will be disqualified. Please be careful!

You can apply to several categories, HOWEVER each application MUST contain unique artwork, duplicates will disqualify all your submissions. Applying to several categories does not guarantee that you will get a scholarship. It is merit based, so make your applications as strong as possible.
